Day trip to Kolob Reservoir

We planned on going to Panguitch Lake but weren't quite prepared for how much cooler it was, so we changed plans and headed to Kolob Reservoir instead.  Nana was home with the puppies so we just brough Kona.

Couldn't believe we found snow in the middle of summer.

Jer also found a snake along the way.

Nala's Puppies

Our sweet Nana gave birth to 4 puppies on June 17th.  During the day she was restless and we knew it was close.  She ended up having the first puppy at about 10 that night.  Jer and I stayed up with her but she did great and could have done it on her own.  She had 3 boys and 1 girl.  We named them Mufasa, Sarabi, Timone, and Puumba.  We had so much fun with them.  They have since all gone home.  They were all very different so it was easy to tell them apart.  We all had our favorites and they all got plenty of attention.  I worried about Timone, the runt because he was about half the size of the rest and got sick once and started to lose some weight that he didn't have to lose.  But they all ended up healthy and are now with their new families.  They got harder at the end so I was ready to be back to just Nala and Kona.  It was hard to let them go, especially little Timone who was the last to go.  I didn't make as much as I thought but still happy to be able to make some extra money.

Kona making room for herself with Nana and the puppies.  Kona actually loved having the puppies and especially when they got older she would play with them all the time.  She liked them more than Nana!  She was the best babysitter.

We spent a lot of nights out on the grass playing with all the dogs once it finally cooled down.

Happy Father's Day Jer

Braces

Before

After.  How does she look so cute even with braces?

New Addition

The next weekend we surprised the kids by driving to Centerville to pick up our new puppy.  We named her Kona and were hopeful that her and Hala would be fast friends.  She did great the whole care ride home.

Unfortunately Nala would have nothing to do with Kona and would leave and go somewhere else if Kona got near her.  Luckily since then, they have become good friends and play and run around with each other all the time.

We are all in love with Kona already.  I never knew I would be such a dog person!  Having a new puppy was hard but she is great.  I think she follows Nala's lead.  She slept in her kennel the first night and is potty trained.  We are still working on walking on a leash but it will come.

First Week of Summer

The first week of summer after our San Francisco trip was nice and cool weather so we tried to fit in a lot of hiking and outdoor activities.  We started with exploring Snow Canyon State Park.

We found a huge pool of water and the kids played for a long time looking for tadpoles and jumping across the water.

Chams didn't quite make it his first try.

We also went back to Snow Canyon the next day and went to the sand dunes to play.

And at the end of the week we did the Temple Quarry Trail for the first time.
