Lizards, and Spiders, and Snakes...Oh My!

I was looking through our pictures and notice that there were quite a few of the things we find and Truman catches around our house.

Found this tarantula a couple nights ago. Truman actually saw it and it scared us to death because we were right by it. We tried to catch it and it ended up in the house before it went into the infamous bug/critter cage.

Truman was so proud of the baby lizard he caught.

This is actually the head of a snake that we have seen a few times in our backyard. Luckily it is only a garter snake. Jer and Truman tried to catch it as well, but weren't successful.

This is the horny toad lizard that they caught while they were on a hike in Snow Canyon. These are only pictures of some of the things we have found in the last couple months...praying mantises, spiders, scorpions, coyotes, more lizards, etc. We have convinced him to stop picking up the gross cockroaches. I think I will always remember this about Truman when I look back on his growing up years. I'm sure he will as well. He has no fear when it comes to bugs and animals. We have taught him to be cautious, but he loves anything to do with wildlife. He gets so excited. I think he has brought some kind if critter every week for show and tell at school. I'm sure his teacher just loves it. Lucky for him, our backyard is a perfect place to catch plenty of things. It's pretty much a little boy's paradise.

14 Week Check for Baby

Went to the doctor today for my 14 week check. Everything went well. It's always fun to hear the heartbeat. And that you are starting to gain the beginning of a lot of weight. Something that is never fun to hear is that you are measuring almost 19 weeks, even though you are only 14. I always measure big, but come on! He tried to reassure me by saying that it could be because my placenta is still in the wrong place so it is pushing my uterus up. Not what I wanted to hear either because I was hoping my placenta had moved to the proper place already. I was planning on starting to work out again now that I feel like getting out of bed again, but today the doctor said that wouldn't be a good idea with the position of my placenta. In a way I felt bad...but in another way I was kind of relieved to have an excuse to get fat and do nothing about it. Maybe there are some benefits to having placenta previa. We have an ultrasound in 4 weeks so we will get to see the baby, and Jer especially is eager to find out if my placenta has moved. Still feeling a little sick, but tons better. I have had a lot of annoying and plain hard things happen to my body while I am pregnant, but this baby has taken it to a whole new level. The stress of the pregnancy on my body has made me lose some of my eyelashes, so in some places I have little tiny stubs where new eyelashes are growing in. Apparently they grow in slowly, so I should look pretty good for a while. Just one more joy of being pregnant.

First Year of Soccer

Truman has started his first year of soccer. I couldn't make it to his first game, but I couldn't wait to go to his second. He did amazing. Truman is always willing to try new things, give it his all, and have such a good attitude. He played almost the entire time both games. They play 3 on 3 and mostly they just run around like a bunch of bees together, but I was surprised at how well they did for only being 5. It was funny because Truman and his teammate Aiden would actually compete and take the ball from each other even though they were on the same team. One of the kids on the team doesn't even dare go in, two others mostly look for bugs and kick dirt while they are out there, so Truman doesn't have to do much to shine. It is all pretty hilarious to watch. Grandma Debbie, Grandpa Tony, Aunt Monique were able to come to the game as well. They don't keep score, but here is a picture of Truman after his first goal! I will never forget the excitement on his face. He had told us before the game he would score for Monique. He came over and high fived us all.

Could he be any cuter?

Grandpa Tony used to play soccer so he gave Truman some pointers. We need to work on a little defense for next week. You can't just score goals to win games:)

We made Jeremy sit behind us during the game so we could keep him under control and so he couldn't give Truman too much of a hard time.

Prentice was more than willing to cheer for the team, but also give pointers and reprimand them when needed. Prentice had her outfit all picked out the night before because she wanted to wear all blue to match Truman's uniform. It was such a fun thing to watch. I couldn't' believe how exciting it was to watch a bunch of 5 year olds. Am I a soccer mom now?

Now or Never

Jer had last week off from work to end his 3 month long wave here in St. George. Once again we were ready for some down time and felt like we all needed to reconnect a little. You would think that him working in St. George for 3 months would mean lots more time with him at home. That would be wrong. It was almost harder knowing he was around, but was working so hard he couldn't be with us very much. We decided to head up to Park City for a few days for some perfect weather and then on to all the family to let them know...

We are expecting Baby #3 on March 20th!

We always joke about how it was now or never. We were getting too comfortable being out of the baby stage. No diapers, bottles, night time feedings, blowouts, burping, or barfing and we knew we needed all that fun stuff back in our life, before we got too comfortable without it. I am 13 weeks and to be honest I am just barely getting excited about the whole thing. Can someone please tell me what the point of morning sickness is? Isn't carrying a baby around for 9 months enough? I am finally feeling like getting out of bed and of the couch and even cooking meals again for the family. I pretty much felt sick and crazy in the head for the last 3 months. So for those of you who ran into me and wondered why I was so grumpy and looked so bad, this is my excuse. I think Jer was a little worried I had completely gone off the deep end and would never return (I had the same feelings). I told him many times that this is it. I will not go through this again.

We were a little nervous in the beginning because of some bleeding, but and ultrasound has since discovered that I had a condition called placenta previa. Which basically means my placenta is in the wrong place, which causes tearing and some bleeding throughout the pregnancy. Normally this will fix itself as the pregnancy progresses, so this is still our hope to avoid any complications later in the pregnancy. Right now we are grateful, that this is all it was. You take for granted that pregnancy can have many problems. We have been blessed to have two pregnancies with no complications, but you never know when life will throw you a curve ball. Hope all continues to go well. As with our other two kids, we won't find out the sex of the baby until the birth. We are really ready for anything this time with a boy and girl already. Truman wants a boy and Prentice wants a girl so they will have someone to share a room with. They haven't caught on to the fact that having your own room is a good thing.

We went to The Olympic Park in Park City. An awesome place to go that is free just to watch the Olympic athletes train year round. I narrowed Jer's pictures down from about 200 to just these few.

We also went to Farmington to spend time with family. This is a picture of Truman showing off his reading skills.

We spend a day at Hogle Zoo. We were sad to go back to hot St. George because the weather was so perfect.
