I feel like I need to do an update on Cardon, since he is doing so much better the last couple weeks. I think having a new little baby was especially hard on him, but as things seem to be getting back to normal and we all are getting into our normal cadence and routine, Cardon is adjusting as well it seems.
He is sleeping better in his new room and bed with Truman and he is actually really helpful with Chambers which surprises me a little. He actually likes him a lot and I haven't seen him do anything mean to him. He loves to kiss him and asks multiple times a day if he can. There is usually a big, dirty, slimy wet spot when he is done. We call him the hall monitor of the pacifiers, because as he is transitioning to no pacifier, he is consumed and a little obsessed with Chambers' pacifier. He loves to find them and carry them around and of course put them in Chambers' mouth, even if he is dead asleep.
Here he is forcing the pacifier in...trying to be so helpful.
This day we were playing outside for my birthday on a beautiful sunny day and he was loving picking some of our flowers.
Hanging out at the pool at Truman's birthday party.
He actually loves to pick the weeds in our yard and in our neighbor's yard. These grass ones are quite easy to pick and he watches us and the older kids doing it, so he has taken it upon himself to help out. He will actually stick with it for quite a while, and we don't even have to beg him. He was so proud to come and show me his weeds and anxious for dad to give him "monies" like he does the big kids.
Cardon still wants things done mostly on his terms and his stubborn streak can be incredibly cute or frustrating. I am trying more to let him choose things that really don't make a difference in the end. I am also spending as much time with him as I can and making him feel like such a big brother to Chambers. He likes being my helper and feeling like he can do more than Chambers.
He loves to play with Prentice in the mornings before she goes to school which has been a big help for me with the new baby. He does have a tendency to let out a high pitched scream if someone bothers him or even looks at him the wrong way it seems. The older kids are finding it harder to tease him or bother him because he has learned the fine art of tattling and screaming when they do so. He will come to me and tell me if they do something to him. The other night he also blamed some scribbling on Truman and Tacy that he had done on the kitchen counter. I guess they learn pretty early to put the blame on someone else.
He is putting 2 words or more together now and it is nice to be able to communicate better with him. He can push the kitchen chairs up to anything to get what he wants. He absolutely loves going to Grandma Debbie's and Grandpa Tony's to cook hot dogs over the fire and catch "fogs" (frogs). He still doesn't do things on demand...it has to be on his terms and time schedule. He mauls Ann and she takes it like a champ. He wants to do whatever Truman and Prentice are doing. He likes to read books and he will come and sit with me while I'm feeding the baby and we will read them together. He likes animal books and magazines and books with trucks and tractors in them. He knows most all his colors and is becoming quite the little tease. He gets the biggest grin on his face when he knows you are teasing with him. He is getting to be a better eater and that has made mealtimes much better.
Love you sweet boy! Thanks for keeping us all entertained and on our toes. Now no more waking up grumpy!
