Preschool Halloween Parade

Truman had a Halloween parade around the Dixie college campus with his preschool class. It was funny because while they were singing their Halloween songs they would all face in random directions and sing at will. Of course they all were cute at that age.
Truman wanted to be Spiderman again and Prentice opted for Cruella Deville. Seeing Prentice in this costume brought back memories of seeing my sisters in the same costume when they were her age. She was a hit, especially with the ratted hair. Truman was really cute with her (unlike at home) so it was fun to watch the two of them march from class to class.

Here is a clip of the two songs they sang.

5th Article of Faith

I meant to post this yesterday for a nice Sunday message, but here I am Monday morning while my kids are doing their "homework." Truman is already asking me to learn the 6th one. I need to look at it a little more closely so I make sure I teach it to him correctly. All you veteran mothers, please don't tell me he will someday lose this enthusiasm! Whenever I teach him these, I wonder how he will possibly learn all the tricky words and get it all in the right order and then one day after not saying a word of it, he will just say the whole thing.

Thriller

Last night we got to go to "Thriller." By date night I mean we took Truman and Jer played a game on his phone all during intermission. Ah, nothing like a night out with your hubby, right? All kidding aside it was a great show and something everyone should see at least once. I couldn't believe how many creative and intuitive things they did with each performance. I was a little worried about Truman being scared, but he loved every minute of it. The opening and closing dances of "Thriller" were my favorite. I couldn't believe how fit and good all the dancers were. They truly were amazing in fitness, flexibility, and ability. Another good show at the theater.

Captain for the Day

This week has been crazy (like most weeks really), so I am just getting around to posting the pictures of the day I got to spend with Truman at preschool. He got to be the "captain" of the day on Tuesday. Which means he got to sit in front of everyone on the rug, bring the treats, and be the first to do things at school. Prentice and I got to go with him for the whole day. He was busy the whole day and definitely didn't cling to me while I was there.
I took this picture because Prentice was holding her ground and telling this boy that he could NOT have the tricycle even though he wanted to take it from her.

The kids had so much fun playing outside. They especially liked the tire swing. By the end Prentice was standing up while we were swinging it.
The night before, Truman helped me made bat and pumpkin sandwiches, spider ring cupcakes, and popcorn. It was quite the process and took longer than I thought so we counted it for most of Family Home Evening.

Prentice tried to sneak cupcakes the whole day and finally managed to scrape a little frosting off one.

Staheli Farm Pumpkin Patch

We made our annual trip to pick out mediocre pumpkins at the pumpkin patch:) We couldn't believe how hot it was in October. All the kids' Halloween clothes were long sleeved. Prentice is just lucky I didn't put on her Halloween sweater as well. Beautiful day and not as crowded as other times we've been.

The kids loved feeding and petting the horses until Prentice decided to feed her fingers to one.

I know...what mother brings their kid to the farm in flip flops?

Swinging on the rope swing was Truman's favorite.

Riding the horse was Prentice's favorite.

Being all together was my favorite.

Costume Fun

Since the kids found these in the Halloween decorations, they have wanted to try them on over and over. I think I'm going to have to convince Prentice to wear something a little more girly for the big night. After multiple switching in about a half hour period I finally told them they better put them away for a while so they don't get ruined.
Jer put this up in our entryway to our patio. Truman loved it and Prentice had to be brave just to run through it to get to the front door.

Fire Station Field Trip

Last Tuesday I got to got the the St. George Fire Station with Truman and his preschool class. My sister was nice enough to watch Prentice for me and it was nice to spend some alone time being with and observing Truman with his class. He and his best friend Kai were "buddies" for the walk over, and he wanted to hold my hand the whole time as well. He isn't embarrassed by me yet. He followed all the directions the teacher gave, raised his hand when he had a random story, and listened quietly when he was supposed to. I was also glad I went because it showed me that we need to have a fire safety plan at our house. We have drilled it into him enough since then that I think he knows what to do. Not quite as hands on and personal as when we get to go with Uncle Jeff, but fun nonetheless.

Salt Lake Fall Trip

We took a trip up north for a work meeting Jeremy had, hoping to see some Fall foliage. Although the leaves weren't as vibrant this year as in years past, we still had a nice trip.

We spent a lot of time with family, and also some time with just our family. Jeremy's mom Linda was kind enough to pick us up from the hotel and drive us to some fun places. We visited Hogle Zoo and The Children's Discovery Museum at Gateway. The zoo was nice because there were very few people and the weather was perfect. We had never been to the museum and I have to say I was very impressed. If anyone is in the area I would recommend it. Both the kids were entertained and we ended up staying for 6 hours. They could have stayed even longer but we had a family party to get to.

THE ZOO

Linda got us tickets to ride the train. Wish they would have slowed down a little, but fun nonetheless.

How adorable is the baby elephant? It made me think of Dumbo...without the big ears!

I had to put this picture in because of the story that goes with it. This is a large elephant that makes loud elephant noises and what sounds like sneezing. It is so loud that it would startle some kids and they would run of crying because the weren't expecting it. Of course Prentice was terrified and wouldn't go anywhere near it, so I tried to get Truman to take his picture with the elephant. He tried to be brave but was so nervous he would only let me take it at the back of the elephant...away from the noise.

Linda spoiled the kids some more by taking them on the new carousel. Prentice picked the zebra and Truman picked the snakes. On that note, I have to mention that Truman was fixated on seeing the snakes the whole time. He had his map out and would try to get us there. We did end up spending a lot of time in the reptile house and both the kids were interested in all the creepy, slithering things in there.

They also had a baby giraffe. The kids were concerned because he couldn't reach the food like his mom.

At the end we were going to stop for a while at the playground and the kids played for a lot longer than I thought they would. They were being so silly and having the best time.

Truman kept wanting me to take his picture with him doing silly poses...hence fewer fake cheesy grins than usual.

DISCOVERY MUSEUM

The kids' cousin Talon came along and they all played great together. Truman also had the chance to spend the night with Talon in their trailer in East Canyon one night. He missed me tons. I could tell because he told his Aunt he wanted to stay there forever.

Cute cowgirl

They had to go out on the roof and take a ride in the helicopter. It really did sound like it was getting ready to take off. Truman loved it and Prentice wanted to look from a distance.

GENERAL CONFERENCE
Jeremy and I had the opportunity to go to the afternoon session of conference together. Neither of us had been before and it is quite the experience being able to see it in the Conference Center. A beautiful building with beautiful surroundings. I always love to see the temple and think that the one in Salt Lake is especially stunning. I fell blessed to be a member of this church that is so focused on family and serving others, a couple of things I feel like are most important in our life.
Not something I'd want to do every time, because it sure is nice to stay in your pajamas and lounge on your couch for church twice a year:)

We got to stay with my Grandparents Ballam for a couple days while Jer was in Oregon. We also got to visit with Ernest for lunch on our way out of town. Had a great week. Wish we had more time to fit everything in, but isn't that the story of my life. Now it's back to loads of laundry and getting ready for the week. By the way...can't wait to see my niece Kristin this week and my sister Courtney.

It's Time

I've thought about it for a while and with Jer being gone some, I felt like we may need a little more privacy. We will be making our blog private in the next week, so if anyone is interested in keeping up with what we are doing, send me your email.
