Truman woke up with a "sore mouth" (sore throat) yesterday and this morning Prentice was definitely not herself. So yes my kids are once again sick. I think we have been more sick this winter than ever. I can't imagine that it has anything to do with the fact that Truman puts everything in his mouth all the time.

Anyway, Prentice had me hold her for most the morning, so I turned on the T.V. to watch the inauguration of Barack Obama. Hadn't planned on watching it, but found myself really touched by what happened. I have been a little bitter through this election since Mitt Romney withdrew:) I am embarrassed to say that this is the first live inauguration I have ever seen. I couldn't help but be grateful for where I live and the country that I am a part of. I thought about how lucky we are to have a democracy that functions so well and smoothly. That the transfer of power is done in front of everyone without any conflict, contention, or war. And that no matter who you voted for everyone understands that whomever is elected was done so by the majority of Americans and that we will have the opportunity to elect someone different in upcoming elections if we choose to. It made me realize that even though people aren't perfect and our government is not perfect, it is a pretty amazing system that our forefathers came up with. Even though I am uncertain about some decisions our government has made and concerned about our future I couldn't help but be moved by the proceedings today. Political views aside, it really was a monumental day for America. Now let's see if he can fix this economy!

On a completely different note, I have to say that I also love, specifically, the place I live. The last week has been beautiful. We have been outside everyday; riding bikes, riding scooters, going on walks and hikes, playing at the park, and today we went to feed the ducks. Nothing beats sunny skies and warm weather. We even drove around today with the sunroof open. Keep it coming! Plus I can't wait to get Prentice in some short shorts and tank tops that really show off her figure.

Obsession

So Prentice is obsessed with having a hat, gloves, and shoes on at all times, ever since it snowed. In this clip she insisted on eating her Pringles with mittens on. Needless to say there were a few crumbs to clean up after she was done. And if anyone needs some parenting advice you can hear Jer doing some fine parenting in the background.

Christmas Trip

We took our Christmas trip to visit family over New Years to accommodate Santa and the weather. On New Year's Eve we went to the Utes basketball game with the Shepherds and then to dinner after. I'm a BYU fan at heart, but I enjoy watching any team from Utah do well. By the end of the game we were at about the last row in the gym so the kids could have a little more room.

We went sledding twice and the kids enjoyed every minute of it. Prentice was a little tired the first day, so I don't think she got off the sled for the whole hour and a half. After sledding we went to see Jer's brothers horses because they were going to try and catch one. I stayed in the car because Prentice fell asleep with me holding her, but Truman loved watching them round up the horses. It was neat because right when we pulled up the horses came running and surrounded the truck because they thought we had food. Prentice was so tired and a little sick that she just layed on Truman while he held her.

We had to see the lights at Temple Square while we were there and decided that this is the best time to see them. It was the last night and there weren't many people by Temple Square standards.

The next night we had to watch the Utes football game of course and it was well worth it. The missionaries did happen to show up halfway through the game and we had to reluctantly turn off the T.V. for a while.

When we were driving back from our trip we found out our home had been quarantined because there was a gas leak between our house and our neighbors. They had been pumping gas out from the ground all day and we were given the okay to go back inside right when we got home. They had the yellow tape up and it looked like a crime scene.

We got to see lots of family and spend time together as a family. We hope everyone had a great holiday. Now it's back to reality.
