Father's Day

We had a great weekend. Our time together as a family means so much to us and we love it when dad's home. Plus I always give him a hard time when he shaves his head, but I think he looks so good in this picture.

As some people know Jeremy was actually assigned to be a consultant for his old company, "Western Rock" here in St. George, so we are lucky to have him home for 3 months. When I say "home" I mean he gets up way before we do and lots of times doesn't get home until it's time for bed. I still like seeing him a little more and am already dreading when he will have to travel again.

Prentice and I started off the morning by making french toast, eggs, and bacon for dad. We couldn't get Truman out of bed until it was time to eat. We tried to serve it to him in bed, but he came out just a minute too soon. He works such long hours now and has to get up so early that it's nice when he can sleep in a little.

Next we couldn't wait to give Jer his presents. A chef's jacket since he is such a good cook. I will miss seeing him in his apron, though.

Some wind chimes to put out on the pack patio. I will be glad when we get them up so the kids will stop ringing them.

We then went to church and came home to have dinner at out neighbor L'Deane's house. I wanted to make something special for him and let him relax a little, but it was nice to not have to worry about it after a busy Sunday. After dinner we relaxed and Jer made some dessert with the kids.

I often think how lucky the kids and I are to have you in our lives. I could have never imagined what a great father you would be. Thank you for being such a big a part of the kids' lives. I know that they will be better and happier for it. I appreciate all your efforts. I can't imagine how you balance a demanding job, demanding kids, and a demanding wife. Just know that I love you more then anything. I always know I can turn to you when I need advice, support, or just someone to talk to when it comes to raising Truman and Prentice. I know that they love you and miss you when you're gone. I couldn't ask for anything more then you making them a priority in your life. Love you!

You're 3!!!

Happy Birthday my little princess. In a way I can't believe you're three, and in a way you seem way older then that. You started off acting like a 3 year old last night by sleeping all by yourself in your big girl bed, instead of with Truman. When you got up in the morning, you told us all it was your birthday and then decided you were dirty and wanted to get in the shower by yourself. You only let me come in briefly to adjust the temperature and get down the kids' shampoo.

While we were getting ready for church, Truman decided to encourage you to look under the blanket in my closet and so you saw the bike we had been hiding from you. We went to church and it seemed like everyone knew it was your birthday. Word travels fast when you are 3. You fell asleep at church in Aunt Monique's arms and started snoring during sacrament.

We came home and had tacos and burritos per your request. Grandpa Tony, Grandma Debbie, Aunt Monique, and L'Deane came to celebrate with us.

Truman couldn't wait to help you with all your presents and you said all the right things like: "sweet," "cool," "awesome," and "what the heck." Your favorites so far seem to be the bike and dress up skirt. When we went outside with the bike you were already cruising up and down the sidewalk like a pro.
You wanted cupcakes for your birthday so I made you homemade strawberry cupcakes. Sounded delicious and cute, but don't know if they were worth the effort. Seems like the boxed mixes taste just as good. You were so excited to be able to celebrate your big day. We all had our birthdays in April, so you have just been waiting for your turn!

Things we loved when you were 2:
your attitude
how your rub our ears to comfort yourself
you know just what you want
opinions, opinions, opinions
such a good helper
speak very clearly
mature for your age
such a little mother
like to do artwork
still don't like to watch movies or T.V. much
constantly make us laugh
have such a PERSONALITY
never give up
are willing to try anything
you can get us to do anything you want
want to do whatever mom is doing
imitate Truman whenever you can
quick to pick up on things
can swim and jump in the pool with floaters
know your letters and most of your sounds
enjoy listening to books and reading them to us
got your hair cut by Truman
dress yourself everyday
entertain people wherever we go
can scream and whine with the best of them
make us laugh
love dancing
so glad we have you
we love you

Fun Filled Weekend...extended

We started just going up north for the weekend because Jer had a day off from work and to go to baby Claire's blessing, but the kids and I ended up staying a few days extra for some days at Lagoon.

We started off the trip with a trip to McDonalds with Grandpa and Grandma Ballam, and then a trip to Aunt Melissa's for haircuts. Truman doesn't like having his haircut because he doesn't like how the hair feels as it falls on him after its cut, but it was getting pretty long.

We didn't plan on doing anything with Prentice's, but she insisted on having the full treatment, and with no girls Aunt Melissa was more than happy to oblige. She got a tiny trim, a curl, and hairspray. Aunt Melissa was nice enough to watch the kids for a while that evening so Jer and I could eat at the best Chinese food place there is...Mandarin. I even had it for leftovers the next morning.

On Sunday it was Claire's blessing. We actually got ready a little early (that never happens at home) so we decided to stop at the cemetery so Truman could see the gravestone of the person he was named after.

While we were there, we also got a picture of Prentice with the gravestone with her name on it. As we walked around the cemetery, Prentice would stop and pick up any flowers of pots that had blown over.

Jeremy's family was out of town for the weekend, so we had the whole house to ourselves. The kids loved the great weather and spent a lot of time outside... even early in the morning in their pajamas.

They spent a lot of time throwing the ball to Jack. I do think they could worn out before Jack did.

We also decided to spend a day at the zoo. This orangutan was so funny because it kept looking at Prentice and she kept peering at it.

We watched a fun bird show that we all enjoyed. Jer has been talking about that show since we saw it soon after we were married.

Lagoon was fun and tiring as usual. Both the kids like the haunted houses the best and I finally had to tell them that we were only going on them one more time because the rest of us were so sick of them.

Aunt Monique was so nice to take the kids on tons of rides.

The first evening we were there, it started to pour rain and we couldn't get out of there fast enough. We were drenched by the time we got out to the car.
